TAKING EDUCATION

BEYOND CLASSROOM

Student Excellence

School forms an important part of a child's life. At Jaipuria, we endeavour to make it interesting and meaningful. A list of 40+ activities give students creative use of time, hands on knowledge, wholesome learning and loads of fun.

Each child is unique. When we designed our curriculum, we wanted it curated in a way for it to adapt itself specifically to needs of each child. With the learner at the center of the teaching- learning process, we focus on learning through activities and projects, inquiry-based learning, and also through innovative pedagogy, benchmarking the best practices from across the world. The curriculum is designed to enable children to:-
With a constructivist approach to curriculum, we believe asking questions, learning by doing, and projects will provide experiential learning for life. Workshops, seminars, games, activities, reading, collaborative projects, films, seminars, and expeditions are regularly conducted to ensure that learning is not restricted to the physical classroom itself. Our curriculum stands on a broad base of understanding a child’s psychological, emotional, intellectual and social needs.

Innovative Curriculum

At Jaipuria, we always have the child at the center of all our processes. We also believe in the power of self: Self-knowledge, Self-control, Self-assessment and Self-learning. These are the mainstays of the Curriculum @ Jaipuria.

We have also developed a unique pedagogy which encourages learning more than mere completion of tasks, innovatively named ‘NO SCHOOL’. The idea is that our students should look at teaching-learning as a way of life, not as a compulsion. NO SCHOOL infuses the spirit of experiential learning by fun, thereby creating lifelong learners. We have aimed to nurture the upcoming generation with all-round development of mind, body and soul. The curriculum aspires to create self-thinking, reflective individuals who have the courage to stop, think and reflect at every step of their educational journey.

The NO SCHOOL pedagogy has been intentionally divided into four phases:

The Last School

Pre-Primary Wing, Grade 1 and 2

The only level to teach. Focuses on developing language, mathematics, motor skills and mind-body coordinations.

Demonstration School

Grade 3,4 and 5

Learning through demonstration. Teachers use tools such as presentation, visits, exhibitions, drama, recitation, etc. Introduction to a variety of curricular and non curricular subjects. Special course of study on subjects such as - what is learning and what are the methods and tools for learning are introduced.

Exploration School

Grade 6, 7 and 8

learning through exploration, experimentation, project work and research. Introduction to specialized streams in science and social studies.

Assimlation School

Grade 9 and 10

Support for children’s individual development needs. Cousellor profile developed for each student to chart out their growth map.

Super School

Grade 11 and 12

Introduction to higher level subjects. Specialization in subject of choice. Preparation for college and a life of continuos learning and self development.

The benchmark for the curriculum development process was National Curriculum Framework (NCF 2005), which has a detailed structured approach for each subject. To enhance the content and make it more holistic, we also took important lessons from international curricular standards (mainly the Common Core standards from USA, the National Curriculum from UK, Finland and Sweden etc.).

In today’s context wherein the world is getting increasingly competitive and demands innovation from every student, the curriculum entails the learning level for each student. It defines the cognitive level at which students will be able to operate with the content. It is influenced by many leading taxonomies, including educational philosophers such as Bloom, Anderson, Robert Marzano and John Kendall. We are living in an era where we are preparing students for a society that we have not yet seen, and can only imagine.

Therefore, 21st Century Skills become important.

Today, we need a curriculum, which should not only be student-centric, however, unprecedented amongst the existing ones. The teacher is required to achieve the aims of education. For that purpose, we must enable them to employ suitable instructional methods and procedures, and that is the purpose of the Jaipuria curriculum!
